Umpqua Fly Cuda Flourescent Green Tandem
SKU: NFD9704
The Cuda Fly mimics a Needle Fish, a primary food source of Barracuda’s. Whip this fly to a ‘Cuda, strip it as fast as you can and hold on . The flies are tied about 8″ long with two saltwater hooks and casts very well. Barracuda really enjoy chasing this fly down.

Umpqua Fly Danger Muffin Crab McKnight Ghost
SKU: NFD9677
“Going back more than 10 years ago, I got invited by a good friend and client to Guanaja, Honduras for a weeklong DIY saltwater trip and sat down to tie some permit flies for the trip.
I had talked with a bunch of people that had been down there to fish and researched all kinds of crab photos.
With all the standard stuff I began to play around with a more imitative Reef Crab imitation. Looking for a more mixable alternative to wool, I tried using rabbit instead- which ended up working nicely. By adding in some deer hair, we got a fantastic, mottled effect.
Long story short, ended up with two DIY permit that week on that initial olive version. Over the past few years, we have had this fly do very well everywhere, Bahamas, Belize, Mexico, even made some in roads with a handful of Florida Keys guides.
When Pat Cohen came out with the laser cut claws I played around with a few and thought they looked like a great fit. After fishing with them, I am convinced they work even better.”

Umpqua Fly Detroit Mop City Eakins Cream Medium
SKU: NFD9708
“Here is a mop pattern with some personality!
There is a lot happening here with a tapered and curved tail, a breathing thorax, and feathers and dubbing for the collar and wing; and they all seal the deal here.
I had a request for a mop fly, and although there are several offerings in the mop fly department, I felt there was space for something else. I wasn’t approaching this as anything other than a big, plump, irresistible aquatic grub/crane fly larva.
This comes in small and medium lead eyes allowing some versatility from still water to the river. Although the small lead eyes may seem a little heavy for some still water applications, don’t be fooled.
A gentle pendulum cast with a drag and drop finish will yield results!
Another quick river tip is to use the DMC as your point fly, and a fly of your choice as your dropper, and tight line the run. I will nymph deep runs with this rig when fish are holding deep and visibility is poor, referring back to euro-nymphing techniques.”

Umpqua Fly Double Gonga
SKU: NFD9668
It started as a Matuka meets Wooly Bugger. But the finished Double Gonga has well thought out features: Bugger tail of dense marabou, but a fuller wrapping of schlappen for greater profile and motion in the water. Lead eyes on the underside of the hooks to ensure it rides hook down.

To give this fly an underwater sound signature, Charlie stayed away from a deer hair head. Such flies push water, but also cause it to be too buoyant. Using the soft craft fur or Polar Fibre for the head of this fly turned out to be just the solution. By placing the butt ends of these fibers into a dubbing loop, Charlie could create a thick, flowing chenille that could easily be shaped with scissors, wrapped in and around the lead eyes and would sink like a rock, yet shed water on the back cast.
-
Giant yet easy to cast with lead eyes for weight and an articulated body tied on a pair of 3xL #4 hooks, try fishing it with a rip and strip or simply dead drifting with an occasional pulse of the rod tip…be ready!
Size: 4 x 4
Colours: Black, Grey and Rust

Umpqua Fly Dragon Bond Baby Brown
SKU: NFD9669
TROUT!
“Back in 2012 when I was bartending at the Filling Station of Bozeman, MT I did Sunday night fly tying. Barely anyone ever showed up for that but the regulars, they were drinking booze. In between the drinks I would tie some flies and entertain with my creations. One late night I started messing around with some thick fur and a little material for articulation, a whole Lotta marabou and a couple silly beads, then the dragon was born. The next day it worked. I’ve been using fun beads and other silly things for a while to just see what they would eat and to kinda pimp my ride and make it my own. Marabou to me is the the money in my vault and always seals the deal when it comes to movement underwater. I like having a bulky head up front to make that tail twist and turn and get their attention on the dance floor. Put your time in and The Dragon will bring them out. Tie the Dragon in every color under the sun or just buy the Mighty fine flies that Umpqua ties, in either sizes and you’ll find the one you were looking for, sooner or later.”
