This variation of a CHUBBY CHERNOBYL is one of Mike’s “deadly dozen.”

Designed to fool the finicky trout of the Henry’s Fork, this fly will get them anywhere stoneflies are present.

This pattern is tied in different colors to imitate either a golden stone or its larger cousin, the salmonfly.

Mike suggests fishing this one high and dry to start, but if the fishing gets tough don’t be afraid to trim the wing down and give it a more flush floating appearance.

These flies are simply beautiful. They also have been Andy’s little secret for several years now, his go–to flies for fishing small nymphs, and flies he was reluctant to share or show to others, the cat is out of the bag now however. Perhaps, as Andy surmises, it is the color contrast — the two–tones — that helps pull the fish’s attention, with help from the Mirage Tinsel flashback. No matter what, these new flies have not only proven to be deadly little patterns, but frequently have yielded, for some, the largest fish of the season.

    SKU: NFD9883

    Size 12 with 4mm bead.
    Dark and Light

”This fly is the everyday, 365, don’t leave home without it pattern. Tied light and dark, with a Umpqua Jig Bomb tungsten bead in the front, this fly gets down and stays down.

Tied sparse but buggy, with a UV rib on the underbody this fly strikes just the right balance of a naturalistic attractor. The CDC collar helps mimic air bubbles of an emerging insect.

Whether matching mayflies or caddis this pattern covers all bases.”

Umpqua Fly Jigged Hare’s Ear Tungsten
    SKU: NFD9636

The Gold-Ribbed Hare’s Ear Nymph is a sentimental favorite for most anglers. It is often one of the first flies a tyer learns which often results in it being one of the first flies the angler uses to catch a fish. No angler forgets that moment. Its effectiveness comes from the naturally spikey hare’s mask dubbing with its natural tans & grays along with just enough flash from the tinsel ribbing to bring some attention to it as it drifts. It is an extremely versatile fly that imitates many insects and is available in a classic Gold-Ribbed, Bead Head and Tungsten Jigged versions.
