Umpqua Fly Ka-Cudda
SKU: NFD9700-20
The Ka-Cudda is the ultimate barracuda fly, work it fast like a needlefish skittering across the water and be ready to observe the great barracuda do what it was born to do, kill. It produces when you present it to an attentive fish. It is made of a durable mesh tubing that has flex in the water and allows for user friendly casting. The fly is 8″ long and comes with pre-rigged with a 9″ wire bite tippet. Easy to rig onto any leader, this is a necessity to keep with you in case you encounter these viscous predators on your next trip out.

Umpqua Fly Mayhem Crab Chicone
SKU: NFD9738
“My Mayhem Mole Crab pattern has two monofilament keels weighted heavily with tungsten beads. This helps get the fly down to the sand quickly. The added weight also aids in creating a disturbance in the sand when the fly is stripped.
This puff of sand is crucial when imitating the crab’s defense mechanism of burying itself in the sand.
The females of the species are larger in size, approximately the size of your thumb, and have a bright orange egg sac that is located on the underside of their rounded gray body.
For predators, like birds and fish within eyeshot, this pronounced pop of orange is a dead giveaway to their location.
For this pattern, I used a small tuft of bonefish pink Finnish raccoon to represent the egg sac.
I like to use natural materials like fur whenever possible because they bring not only vivid color as well as some movement to the fly.”

Umpqua Fly McFly Crab Chicone
SKU: NFD9653
“The McFly Crab is a simple pattern that can be easily modified on the water and fished effectively anywhere.
I like the Ultra Micro Chenille legs because they provide a little more durability, and they tend to hold color better than rubber.
This provides a blank canvas that can be easily colored to mimic the vast majority of crabs you will encounter.
The materials that comprise this pattern are easily trimmed on the go if you need to shrink this pattern down for picky permit.
Contrary to most conventional crab patterns, it is weighted with lengths of non-lead wire lashed to the shank rather than with lead eyes or a beaded keel.
I wanted the fly to come down on the water softly, without the splat, and then to sink more uniformly like a real, unthreatened crab rather than plummeting to the bottom.
The second reason I opted for a wire weighting system is that it gives you a greater ability to tailor the amount of weight to the size of the fly.
With the wire, you are not bound to two or three different sizes of lead eyes that may be slightly too much or too little weight.
And the weighted wire foundation can be endlessly tweaked for varying water depths.”

Umpqua Fly Sandy’s Cracked Crab 4 Moret’s
SKU: NFD9681-4
Sandy knows the bonefish of the Keys as well as anyone. When he says this new pattern works we believe him, no questions asked. A mere two years old, it has scored big results around his Islamorada waters, and those big fish are as wary and picky as any to be found. It is not inordinately heavy, but is weighted “just enough” and designed to land softly for skinny water and tailing fish. Recently fished in the Bahamas, this fly was simply crushed repeatedly.
