Umpqua Fly Graveyard Baetis Wood
SKU: NFD9824
Size 18,22 and 22
“The Graveyard Baetis was originally developed out of a need for a highly visible baetis pattern for use during heavy emergence/hatches of baetis on the Bighorn River in southeast Montana.
The success of my Graveyard Midge led me to incorporate the open cell foam on the back and wing buds to a pattern inspired by the baetis patterns of John Barr and Juan Ramirez.
The fusion of the overall silhouette of Barr’s Emerger and Ramirez’s slender abdomen along with the bulbous and highly visible thorax and wing buds of my Graveyard proved to be a big hit with trout.
By using the wide gap, short shank, 1X heavy TMC2457 the final iteration of Graveyard Baetis, and the later Graveyard PMD has helped to get more trout to the net.
The Graveyard Baetis and PMD can be fished from near the surface alone or behind a high floating dry to near the bottom as part of a Euro rig.”

Umpqua Fly Graveyard Midge Wood
SKU: NFD9825
Size: 18
Colours: Black and Olive
“I sprang out of bed at 2 a.m. one morning and tinkered with refining the idea until dawn. Thus the graveyard Midge was born.
The basis for all three patterns is derived from dozens of hours of netting and observing chironomids in a small lake in northwest Wyoming and stream netting across the Rocky Mountains.
The basic design uses the idea of over-exaggerating a single detail to act as a trigger for feeding trout.
The foam back and breathers on the Graveyard Midge act as that trigger, an idea inspired by the writings of the late Gary LaFontaine.
The use of open cell foam as the back and breathers on this pattern catches light, creating a halo effect making the fly more visible in the drift.
From the time I introduced this pattern it has been a top producer in tailwater and freestone rivers from the Guadalupe in central Texas, the South Platte in Colorado, the Bighorn in southeast Montana and beyond.
Fish it free floating in the current, as part of a deep nymphing rig or under an indicator wherever chironomids are present, anywhere and everywhere.”

Umpqua Fly Hackle Stacker Quigley
SKU: NFD9844
BWO, PMD and Callibaetis
Sizes: 14 to 22
Bob Quigley is best known for designing extremely effective Spring Creek flies for picky, educated fish. The Hackle Stacker is a great example and will prove its worth quickly if you choose to tie this fly on to match any of the classic mayfly emergences. Fish this fly to selective fish with long and fine leader/tippet whenever the fish are turning their noses up to standard offerings. And, watch for the “eat” that may be very subtle.
It is worth noting that the fly’s name honors the tying technique “stacking hackle” which Bob invented when designing this fly. He was truly a great innovator in the sport of fly-fishing and tying.

Umpqua Fly Hda Fav Variant (Jigged)
SKU: NFD9882
Size 12 and 14
“This nymph is an awesome searching pattern. When I’m fishing new water and am not sure what exactly the fish want I will go to this pattern.
With the pearl tinsel back, soft hackle collar and hotspot, this fly has presence in the water. However, this pattern works well as an emerger, with lots of movement created from the soft hackle collar.
I typically fish this on a dead drift, but definitely allow this fly to swing out to finish the drift. Depending on the size it works well during your drake hatch down to your beatis.
Since it is tied on a competition jig hook, I do fish this primarily on a euro–rig, but I have suspended this fly off indicators for clients, and dropped it off of a dry fly.”

Umpqua Fly Henry’s Fork Foam Stone
SKU: NFD9845
Sizes 6,8 and 12
Colours: Gold and Salmon
This variation of a CHUBBY CHERNOBYL is one of Mike’s “deadly dozen.”
Designed to fool the finicky trout of the Henry’s Fork, this fly will get them anywhere stoneflies are present.
This pattern is tied in different colors to imitate either a golden stone or its larger cousin, the salmonfly.
Mike suggests fishing this one high and dry to start, but if the fishing gets tough don’t be afraid to trim the wing down and give it a more flush floating appearance.
